"Dave, what do you see?"

The air in the cavern seemed to lose all moisture instantaneously, leaving him parched and without words. A sudden sensation overcoming him, of being infinitely small.

He was the first man to walk here, four and a half miles into the earth. The recently discovered cavern presenting a unique chance for research and exploration; a subsequent program getting him here to conduct it.

"Dave, are you there?"

The great chamber stretched out around him; the walls perfectly chiseled from the stone, partly comprised of some unknown metallic element. A radiating energy pulsed through the entirety of the chamber intermittently, like a beating heart. An overwhelming pressure was building inside of him, his legs feeling as if they would give way at the slightest notion of a breeze.

He didn't know what to tell them about this; the Sumerian glyphs, the mechanical and organic chimera that was the very chamber itself? He was beginning to sweat now; a cold feeling creeping up the back of his neck, so that the hairs stood on end.

How could he explain the button he had just accidentally pressed, labeled only "Reset"?

"Dave...?"
